Stage 1 The cabinet is inserted into a furnace for up to 45 minutes. The furnace is heated to1045°C thus exceeding the highest likely temperature in an actual fire.
Stage 2 The cabinet is removed from the furnace and dropped 9.15m onto a bed of rubble. This is done to simulate a cabinet falling within a collapsed building.
Stage 3 The third stage involves the cabinet being re-inserted into the furnace and heated for another 45 minutes.
Stage 4 The cabinet is left in the furnace to cool off for 5-6 hours. This stage simulates the cabinet being left on a floor of smouldering debris.
